South Mission Peak

South Mission Peak
Rock wall on the ridge between Mt. Allison and Mission Peak. Origin unknown.

Many rock walls stand on the ridges and slopes between Mission Peak and Monument Peak (located just north of Ed Levin Park). Fly south from this site in Google Earth. Zoom in for a closer look. The walls are there all right. They typically run at angles to the layered rock outcroppings common in this area. Humans obviously stacked the rocks for these walls, but who did it and why?

Does this look like a natural formation?
